Xochimilco no te mueras group

We started working in October 2005 with the Altar of the Day of the Dead (ofrenda del día de muertos Oct 31st) and it has been presented every year in the porch of the barrio of Tlacoapa.

Our goal is to preserve our traditions through their diffusion, principally to young people and children.

At this time, the group has increased its his activities thanks to the inauguration of the Culture House “Tia Tila” (Aunt Tila) which opened in February 2010.

Workshops of piñata, papalote and paper-balloon making are just some of the upcoming activities that the group has announced, and which be held in the Culture House.
Furthermore, we will hold temporary exhibitions presenting short films, photographies, pictures and different plastic expressions.

The group has taken part in traditional festivities, such as Holy Week (semana santa), "The most beautiful flower of the common land" (La Flor Mas Bella Del Ejido) and other traditional holydays.
The group has a population of many artists, whose works have been presented in several cultural places, like the Museum Dolores Olmedo, in which allusive works to the 100th anniversary of the Mexican Revolution and the 200th anniversary of the Mexican Independence are presented.
Soon the group is going to have qualified personnel guided tours of through the historical center of Xochimilco, and will offer to visit recreational and eco-turistic places in the floating gardens areas.
